Combat Stress
For the period 2015-2017 we have chosen Combat Stress as our nominated charity. As the UK’s leading veterans’ mental health charity it provides treatment and support services to more than 6000 veterans who are suffering from psychological wounds free of charge.
Corps Security’s Commercial Director, Rob Hill undertook the epic Iron Man challenge in Majorca in September 2016. This involved a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and to finish it of, a 26.2 mile marathon.
Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund
For the period 2012-14 we chose the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) as our nominated charity. As one of the leading armed forces charities, RMCTF works to support those wounded and injured, as well as those still serving, by funding decompression activities, homecoming events and memorials. It also provides through-life support to those who have left the Royal Marines or have lost loved ones in service.
Corps Security has a strong affiliation with the Royal Marines. Our president, Sir Robert Fulton is the unit’s ex-commandant general and Corp’s Security currently provides civilian guarding services to six Royal Marines bases in the South West of England.
Members of staff raised money via a range of activities including a 30-mile run and sponsored abseiling. RMCTF’s Commando Spirit series of once-in-a-lifetime events also saw a team from Corps Security take part in its Escape the Dunker challenge – a tough Royal Marines training exercise which simulates a helicopter crash at sea. They were strapped into a mock fuselage and thrust into water, in the dark and at great speed until completely submerged, escaping only by using the correct procedure.
In 2013 another group of super-fit employees completed a mammoth cycle ride that covered more than 750 miles in one week. Dubbed The Tour de Corps, the team cycled via all 12 mainland Corps Security offices, starting at Stevenage, travelling through London, Crawley, Bracknell, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Wakefield, Newcastle, Edinburgh and finished seven days later in Glasgow.
Then in 2014 a small group of employees took part in a 24 hour rowathon, taking it in turns on a static rowing machine all night and all through the following day. It took place at Corps Security’s headquarters in KLondon in full view of the public who donated as they walked by. The money raised was split between the RMCTF and the participants preferred charities.
Fundraising and charitable giving is a team effort at Corps Security. We are proud to support these worthwhile causes and equally proud of the way in which our employees rise to the challenge.
