5 Minutes With Fred Lambrechts
We’re continuing our ‘5 minutes with’ blog series, highlighting the diverse experiences and roles that make Corps Security unique. In this post, we sit down with Fred Lambrechts, a Mobilisation Director at Corps Security, to learn about his career journey, his experiences within the company, and his insights on finding happiness at work.
Tell us a bit about your role
I am a Project Manager, responsible for the start of new security contracts won by the company. As the main point of contact between the client and Corps Security, I draw up a mobilisation project plan and assign timescales and tasks. This ensures that each department completes its actions on time. To help move things along, I meet with clients on a weekly basis to get updates.
What roles have you worked in prior to joining Corps Security?
I started in the UK security industry in 2004, after spending 6 years as a Wine Estate Manager in South Africa. What began as a role in retail security saw me move into corporate security in 2009. My London portfolio has always included multi-tenant properties and law firms, and I later expanded into data centre security contracts outside of London.
From contract management, I was then promoted to National Operations Manager in 2017. Even though I stopped managing contracts directly, I was still responsible for around 6 Contract Managers before joining Corps Security in July 2019.
What was your journey like within Corps Security?
I was very lucky to join Corps Security three days before their annual conference, as this gave me the opportunity to meet most of my new colleagues in one day. In fact, I was still going through my company induction when I had the opportunity to mobilise my first national contract!
Over the last five and a half years I have also been involved in other projects within the company. I enjoy doing these and I think it is a good thing to do something different from time to time. Every mobilisation has taught me something new, to make future projects even better.
How has working for Corps Security changed over the years?
When we were hit with COVID-19, it was a very critical time to win new business. This required a whole new way of working and thinking outside the box to mobilise contracts but still comply with social distancing. Despite the quiet period, we still managed to win new business. It goes to show the tenacity of everyone at Corps, despite the difficult times everyone faced.
What’s been your biggest highlight in your role?
I don’t want to single anything out, as there have been so many highlights. But every time a contract goes live, and you meet the eager security team in the new uniforms, it still makes me proud to have my role.
What are the key ingredients to finding happiness at work?
Helping others and going the extra mile in my bids brings me joy. Communication and trust go a long way in a happy work environment, and I believe that ensuring that employees have the right support to do their jobs increases job satisfaction.
What helps you create a good work/life balance?
I find having a hobby helps me relax after work. This might be working in the garden, growing vegetables at the allotment, or going camping in my 4×4.
What do you love most about working at Corps?
I am so grateful to work for such a one-of-a-kind security company. We have a rich history, dating all the way back to 1859, that no other security company can match.
