5 Minutes With… Tyrone Marriott, Security Site Manager At A High-Profile Public Sector Site
When did you join Corps and what does your current role involve?
I joined Corps Security in 2015, after being Tuped over from Shield Security. My current role is the site security manager at a major public sector site in London, where I work with my security team, the client and other organisations to look after the entry points of the building, the reception and maintain the safety of the site and its people.
Can you tell us a little about your career background / what was your first job?
As far as my career, I have done all sorts of jobs from pot washing and concession stands, working as a cleaner, bar work, fast food cook to retail and track work for the London Underground. My first ever job as a teenager was in events where we would be sent to sporting events and could be doing anything from silver service waiting, to stewarding or washing dishes.
If you weren’t in security, what would you be doing as a career?
If I wasn’t in security I’d probably still be doing track maintenance for the London Underground.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
My favourite thing about my job is working with my team and the customer. The majority of the people that I work with I have a laugh with. This is a very important thing to me as if you don’t enjoy the company that you are working with, it will seem as though time dragging. In a job with often long hours, the small things make a huge difference.
What are the main challenges you face in your daily role?
The main challenges I face right now is to keep everyone on their toes when Covid has made the building extremely quiet.
What is on your bucket list?
If I could travel anywhere right now, I would like to go Hawaii as it looks beautiful and it’s always been on my bucket list.
