Many in the security industry will be aware that today marks International Security Officers’ Day – a moment to recognise the vital role security professionals play in keeping people and places safe. Fewer will know exactly why this day falls when it does. The 24th day of the 7th month is a deliberate nod to the 24/7, 365-day commitment security officers make to protecting the public.
To mark the occasion this year, our operations teams will be visiting sites across the country to show their appreciation in person – delivering treats and gifts, taking the time to chat with their colleagues, and saying ‘thank you’.
Recognising Contributions At Corps
International Security Officers’ Day shouldn’t be the only time companies recognise the hard work and dedication of security officers. In 2025–26, Corps invested more than £24,000 in reward and recognition activity, with a further £9,975 given out in long service awards celebrating colleague commitment.
Officer recognition also happens through Corps Connect, our employee portal, where colleagues shared almost 4,000 moments of recognition in 2025. 96 per cent of that recognition was received by non-managers, highlighting how appreciation reaches colleagues on the front line.
Feeling supported, valued and appreciated are themes that many colleagues point towards in our annual Your View Matters survey. This year, 75 per cent said they felt proud to work for Corps and would recommend it as a good place to work, while 72 per cent plan to stay with the business for the long term.
As one colleague put it: “It’s not just a job at Corps Security. Being happy at work makes you happier in life.” After three months with the company, another said: “I’ve had all the help and support from managers, supervisors and colleagues. I believe if any issues arise, I can get the advice and support I need.”
The Corps Champion Awards
Earlier this year, we introduced the Corps Champion Awards – a new annual recognition programme with fresh categories and prizes, celebrating colleagues and teams who go above and beyond in their roles.
The original customer and colleague champion awards also continue to be announced every month via the Corps2U newsletter, and three new awards are now handed out at the end of each quarter:
- Veteran Values Champion – for those who demonstrate a measurable contribution to our social mission through fundraising and volunteering
- Health & Safety Champion – for those who display excellence in safety culture
- Team Champions – for those who achieve impactful results through collaboration
Every monthly and quarterly award winner is automatically shortlisted for our annual awards ceremony. The next one is set to take place in February 2027.
For the first quarter of 2026, our three award winners were:
Veteran Values Champion: Eifion Roberts, Concierge. Eifion signed up for Corps’ March in March charity challenge just weeks before the team took on a 23-mile walk around Lake Windermere. Despite the short notice, he set an ambitious fundraising goal and worked tirelessly to meet it. The £1,336 he raised exceeded expectations, demonstrating both a passion for supporting veterans and a willingness to go the extra mile (literally) to make a difference.
Health & Safety Champion: Scott Graham, Deputy Supervisor. After encountering an unwell member of the public while travelling home from work, Scott reacted with quick thinking and compassion. He checked their breathing, placed them in the recovery position, and called emergency services. Scott’s calm, decisive actions ensured the individual received the support they needed – a clear demonstration of his professionalism and care.
Team Champions: Holly Rudorf, Mail Room Officer; Jadea Gayle, Relief Security Officer; Lisa Hunt, Mobile Officer; Craig Illing, Mail Room Officer; Ryan Firth, Officer. Holly, Jadea, Lisa, Craig and Ryan showed outstanding teamwork and dedication in transforming their workplace. Over several weeks, the team worked to turn the post room at their site into a cleaner, more organised and efficient space. It was a transformation that earned high praise from staff and management alike, and a great example of how teamwork can make a lasting impact on the people who use the space every day.
Thank you
These are just a few examples of the outstanding work our security officers carry out every day. To every officer we work with – thank you for your hard work, dedication and the vital role you play in keeping people and places safe.
Today, and every day, you deserve to be recognised.
