More about Corps
At Corps Security we are proud of the work that we do for and with our customers – alongside our work in the community, for charities and for the veteran community. In fact, this year has been the year where we have been most decorated for the great work that we do. But why does this matter to the company, or what does it mean for you?
This month, I am going to let you know about the awards we have won, and the customers we won them in partnership with. Then, I want to explain how we won the awards – what is it about Corps that the judges really appreciated. Find out by reading on below.
CORPS IS AN AWARD-WINNING SECURITY SUPPLIER
2022 has been a bumper year of award shortlists and incredible wins. There are so many, but I am going to focus on a few of the most recent and important for us, as a company – that includes you.
PFM Awards – Partners in ESG – with CBRE
Corps, alongside our partner CBRE, were shortlisted and subsequently won the award for ESG partnership. Alongside CBRE, we have focussed quite heavily on how the company impacts the environment, but more importantly our people. In partnership with CBRE we have been celebrated for our efforts in inclusivity, diversity, communication, use of technology and our governance. This is one of the most prestigious awards on the calendar as it relates to our Social Enterprise status and our company goals and values.
Overall Winner – PFM Awards
If winning the Partners in ESG Award was not a big celebration of the great work we have been doing, we were also awarded the prestigious Overall Winner award of the night, fighting off all the other winners in all categories. They congratulated us on the systems we have in place, and the demonstrable results we are achieving through our processes and tracking.
Living Wage Champion Award – Recognised Service Provider Awards
As you know, Corps have been working hard to ensure our customers see the value in paying you, our colleagues, the real Living Wage. Mike Bullock, our CEO, is in fact an active member of the Living Wage Foundation. In the summer, we were delighted to have been awarded the Living Wage Champion award for our efforts to promote, educate and inform our network about the powerful benefits of paying the Living Wage.
CBRE – Supplier of the Year
For those unfamiliar with CBRE, they are a global company with a strict and governed procurement process. Over the last couple of years, we have grown closer as organisations and are making real change in their customer’s locations. This year, we were delighted to win the Supplier of the Year accolade. A testament to the hard work of the entire Corps Security team. Thank you!
Why does winning awards matter?
Awards are much more than a trophy in a cabinet, or a reason to party. They are recognition for the hard work that the company is doing to improve the way security is delivered, the partnerships we have strengthened and the positive impact we are having on society.
As an award-winning company, potential customers notice us, engage with us more but also provides us with the recognition that we are working hard to make sure we look after our most important asset, our people. Our ongoing challenge to get every one of our colleagues the real Living Wage is a prime example. In fact, Corps have made it our policy to carefully consider who we take on as customers, especially if they do not share our beliefs and our values. These awards show that we have your pay and working conditions at the heart of how we operate in the future.
Alongside fighting for fair pay, we are also making positive impacts with regards to who works with us. Our ESG strategy, the focus on Environmental, Social and Governance, includes – as a major component – a focus on diversity and inclusivity. You will all be familiar with Corps Together, this is a phenomenal example of the lengths that company has gone to make sure our team feel welcomed, supported but more importantly, can give back to our pockets of society. Whether that be celebrating our wonderful array of cultures, religions, or sexualities. Well done everyone involved – you are the reason we win these awards.
Finally, and most importantly, is job security. Many of our customers will purchase services with a conscious view of working with an ethical supplier. With Corps leading the industry in these areas, the awards enhance our commitments and ethics and allows us to win bigger contracts, ensure we retain our best clients which in turn will ensure you can feel confident that your employer is financially stable, growing every year, and you will be secure in your roles for years to come.
Reinvesting in you – how our profits benefit you, not shareholders
If you switch on the news, or pick up a newspaper, you will see headlines talking about big bosses of large companies taking huge dividends out of the business – which is causing outrage when many of us are struggling to pay our bills.
Nearly all UK businesses operate with a board and shareholders that are entitled to dividend pay outs from the company profits. But, no at Corps. We do not have shareholders, and we don’t pay out dividends. This means all our profits are reinvested back into the business – with a percentage that goes to our charity partner, Combat Stress.
What happens to the reinvested profits?
By putting our profits back in to the business, we use the funds to improve the business and ensure you have a safe and secure job for years to come. In addition, the profits are used to bolster your pay, to ensure you get the best possible rate for the role that you do. But, in addition, it goes to fund special projects such as the Employee Assistance Programme, Colleague Welfare Fund, and Benefit Hub.
It is this governance that has attracted our new customers, retained our existing ones, and allowed us to negotiate with them to ensure we can continue to grow the number being paid the real Living Wage, and allowed us to become the Social Enterprise that we are today. So, I hope you will wear your pin badge with pride.
